Last day of Session 3 at Intersections Media! #arttherapy #bittersweet

23 Feb

We’re excited about our students flying off to new chapters in their lives.  They’re going to do amazing things with their lives!  But we’re sad to see them go!  A “good sad”!

Here are some highlights from this week:

TIFF-SANITY! She caught sock monkey fever at Intersections Media! #arttherapy

22 Feb

In just a few weeks, Tiffany has made a huge collection of delightful monkeys!  I adore watching her gather supplies and get down to work.  Each monkey is so unique yet with that fabulous Tiffany style and humor!  I can hear Tiff’s laugh now!  It’s as catchy and contagious as sock monkeys!

6 degrees of Creativity sock monkey swap magic! @arttxalliance!

11 Feb

Magic continues to happen in Art Therapy Alliance‘s 6 Degrees of Creativity!

Our latest adventure in Sock Monkey Therapy was a sock monkey swap with members of 6 degrees!

I was blessed to receive mine from my hero, Gretchen Miller!  It came with beautiful affirmations and notes.  It inspires me to no end!!!  I AM IN LOVE!

I sent a sock cat to Monica in Australia!

I posted mine yesterday to Ontario and then went to my post office box and SURPRISE. One had arrived for me already, and surprise it is a sock cat, from Vancouver!!!!!!! It was so exciting, I took her photo and sent it to my family and friends. She spent the rest of the day doing counselling sessions with me and my family violence clients and then she purrred whilst I did paper work. Other staff like her so much and have asked me to do a workshop with  a new mums group. Feels like Xmas again. So big hugs to the muse who suggested sock monkey swops and to Gretchen for coordinating and organising it and to my sock cats mummy, Katarina: she beautiful thankyou.  Monica

Monkeying Around: Making Sock Monkeys with the Kids

Working on the sock monkeys brought up plenty of opportunities for problem solving.

Visionboards with Laura Mack @parentasleader and session 3 students at Intersections Media! #youthatrisk #arttherapy

9 Feb
We were delighted to invite back and to work on vision boards today with Laura Mack (and her fabulous dog, Skippy!).  Laura is an extraordinary leader, mentor, guide, teacher, peer, spirit, friend.  We spent 3 hours with her learning about strong determination, pursuing our passions, addressing what we want to create in our lives, managing emotions, foundational practices, vision boards and GRATITUDE.

Routine of creative process settling in Week 2 Session 3 at Intersections Media! #youthatrisk #filmmaking #arttherapy

Art is the place in which beings come to show themselves as what they are… SK Levine
Our latest group “Intake 3″ (the third session for our 2011-2012 sessions) is well into week 2.  Today they headed out into the streets to film and are now are busy at their computers editing their own short films from the footage gathered.
They had a lighting seminar yesterday, connected with the Passion Foundation about their next PSA, have started their blogs and are busy with journals and drawing sessions!  And of course, sock monkeys.
