Visions Adolescent Treatment Centers @VisionsTeen #helping #youth

8 Apr

Substance abuse and behavior disorder are the most common (and co-morbid) issues for the youth I work with.  Does it all affect their daily life in a negative way?  You bet.  I recently came across @VisionsTeen on Twitter and I am moved by their holistic approach to treatment.  In an ideal world, all my students who needed this treatment would have full access to this type of program.  But until then, we can learn by exploring Visions’ approach:

The effective treatment of adolescents with substance abuse and behavioral disorders requires an approach that includes attention to every aspect of a young person’s life. We see every individual as a whole being. In addition to fully understanding the emotional, developmental, physical, psychological, familial, social and cultural factors, there must be appropriate resources in place to address these issues.
