Intersections Media Opportunities for Youth Society that combines film/visual art/life skills for youth 19+ who face barriers to employment. The main mentor is filmmaker and teacher extraordinaire Fredrik Thorsen, and I am the youth support worker/ art therapist.

Currently, we are running four 5-week sessions (6 students per session), the first one started Oct 24. The student receives minimum wage for the 5 weeks and a session runs Mon-Thurs 9:30 – 5:30 at District 319 (Main and Cordova)
Our current session is up and running and all 6 students are committed and working hard!
If you are a youth aged 19-26, facing barriers to employment, and would love to spend five [paid] weeks learning the ins and outs of film production and creativity, contact me at kthorsen@shaw.ca! We are filling up session 2 as I write this with a couple of spots available!
We will be doing continuous intakes throughout the year for sessions 2-4 and beyond!

BladeRunners is a Province of British Columbia employment program that helps at-risk youth between ages 15-30 build careers in construction. The Province of British Columbia is the steward of the program and the Aboriginal Community Career Employment Services Society [ACCESS] manages the program.
